First Civil War finds

January 8th 2012
I thought I would try my luck at finding some relics from the Civil war but had no idea where to go. I called my brother Darrell, who has had success in the past, to give me a good location. He showed me one of his "honey holes". I probably passed up a lot of finds because I am still getting familiar with my detector and have alot to learn about it. I got a pretty good signal and started to dig. As I sifted through the dirt I finally found my first relic. A dropped three ringer bullet! I screamed woohoo and jumped around like a kid on Christmas! I'm now hooked! I never realized just how much history I had around me in this County and never cared to learn about it until now. Since I have read books, watched movies, and talked with anyone who knows anything at all about the war. I have a great since of pride learning about all of the men who gave their lives for their causes. Unveiling their stories, even though is was 150  years ago, will let them be remembered and not forgotten.....

First Finds

December 27th 2011
Tried my luck around our property and found a few interesting items. None of which I believe were from the war but it definitely sparked an interest in finding more!
A few old nails, part of a lock, iron ore, part of a cast iron stove chimney flue damper, and unidentified items.
